Multi-sport athlete, Mexico High School senior Shelby Kennemore has signed on to play basketball at the college level.
An all-district selection in tennis and an all-star on the soccer field, she recently signed her national letter of intent to play basketball at Central Christian College of the Bible in Moberly.
The decision came after she went on the college tour she met with the coach and really liked her. After a try-out, Kennemore was offered a spot on the team.
“I’ve always wanted to go to Central because we’ve gone to many different youth events there,” Shelby said, “and I like the atmosphere there.”
There were other factors in the decision as well.
“I decided to play basketball at Central because I want to stay active and I’ve always liked basketball,” she said. “The coach is also really nice, so that’s a good bonus.”
She’s excited about the opportunity that lies in the near future and feels she can be an asset.
“I know I can help the team by being a good teammate and showing encouragement on and off the court,” she said.
Shelby is the daughter of Steve and Sarah Kennemore and plans on majoring in education.
