The Missouri Military Academy soccer program entered Saturday’s Moberly Invitational with some notable recognition.
For going undefeated so far, the Colonels earned the No. 2 ranking in the Class 1 state poll before losing their first games of the season. MMA (5-2) lost 1-0 to Class 4 Smith-Cotton (7-7) and then 2-1 to Class 2 Kirksville (5-4).
Fernando Puebla had the only MMA goal, Eric Shellabarger had six steals, Alexander McBride and Avin Hernandez each had five steals, and Gihana Favour Nziza had three saves in the net.
MMA plays its crosstown matchup with Mexico (4-4) at 5 p.m. Thursday at Mexico.
