Mexico’s Community Health Ministry Team hosted its 11th annual Back-to-School Health Fair on Saturdy at Mexico United Methodist Church.
More than 350 children received backpacks filled with hygiene products and school supplies. This is up from last year’s total of 325 students.
Families either did a drive-by or walk-by pick up at this year’s event. Audrain County Health Department nurses and ministry team volunteers greeted guests and distributed the supply packages. Tents were provided by Coil Construction.
“We were pleased to have been able to reach even more kids this year, despite the changes we had to make,” event chair John Johnson said. “We are already making plans to host this event again next year.”
He then recognized all of the volunteers and organization members that helped plan, set-up, run and take down the event.
Major sponsors of the annual event are the health department, Missouri Care and other local sponsors. Next year’s event is tentatively planned Aug. 7, 2021.
