Community R-6 softball has kept the momentum going in the right direction with four victories in its past five games.

The Trojans completed the five-game stretch with a 11-1 win over New Franklin Monday. On Saturday, they won two of three games as they hosted three games as part of the Cairgo Tournament.

On Friday, Community defeated Sturgeon 14-1. The Trojans had an 8-2 record heading into Thursday’s game against Madison. They play in the Paris Tournament today.

“We played really well in this four-day stretch, and competed against some really good teams,” Coach Carey Thomas said. “The girls hit the ball well, and played good defense behind our pitchers.”

In Monday’s win, Emmi Johnson went 3 for 3 at the plate with her first career home run. Sarah Angel added two hits. Emma Angel earned the win on the mound.

Their two wins on Saturday came against North Callaway 10-4) and Highland (10-9).

Brooklyn Glasgow had her first career homer and was joined by Olivia Kuda, Alexis Welch and Johnson with a team-high two hits in the North Callaway game.

Against Highland, Emma Angel and Johnson went 3 for 4 at the plate, while Lydia Forbis contributed two hits. Emma Angel recorded both pitching wins.

In the Sturgeon contest, Johnson had three hits and Kuda added two. Shelby Clark was the winning pitcher.

Their lone loss came in a 7-2 setback to Richmond in the final game on Saturday. Welch had a team-high two hits in the game. Clark suffered the loss on the mound.
