Pilot Grove had an outburst in the third inning. But the Trojans scored in every frame and silenced the visitors for the rest of the way, claiming a 13-3 win at home on Tuesday.

"Sarah Angel led the game off with a triple that set the offensive tone for the rest of the game," observed head coach Kody Asquith. "Bats were alive all throughout the lineup for the whole game."

Community R-6 collected 13 hits on the night. Shelby Clark struck for extra bases three times, smacking a double and two triples. Angel added a two-bagger, as did Brooklyn Glasgow and Olivia Schafer.

The score was even at 3-3 after the guests turned in a rude 3 run third. But the Trojans responded instantly.

Alexis Welch reached on a base hit. Glasgow followed with a double to left, Welch stopping at third. After a pop up, Ivy Hays hit a sacrifice fly, plating Welch to restore Community's lead.

The Trojans were not finished. Lydia Forbis drew a walk and after fouling off the first delivery, Clark drilled a triple to right, scoring two. She then raced home on an error.

Community continued the rally in the bottom of the fourth. Welch led off with a triple to center. Glasgow walked and Hays dropped a base hit in front of the left fielder.

Glasgow and Hays both scored on Pilot Grove miscues.

Schafer was 3 for 5 with 2 RBI on the evening. Clark went 3 for 4 with a pair of runs and a couple of RBI. She also pitched in relief of Angel, allowing just two baserunners.

Despite a rocky third, Angel had a quality outing in the circle. Over four innings she struck out 4 and surrendered 5 hits.

Community's JV squad pummeled Pilot Grove 19-1.
