Van-Far Alumni and Friends Association board members met Oct. 29 and evaluated the annual reunion that was held Sept. 26 during Prairie Days. Several members reported hearing positive comments about the opportunity to spend time with friends at the First Baptist Church multipurpose building following the parade. Alumni and friends were able to gather for conversation and review yearbooks as well as learn about the association.
Given the positive comments, board members made preliminary plans to conduct a similar event during Prairie Days in September 2027.
Recent donors to the scholarship fund include: Luke and Teresa Heim, Dea Hoover, Karol Kristofferson and Ellen Ledbetter. Richard and LaVonne Jones gave gifts in memory of Wayne Atkinson, class of 1956, and Bonnie Beshears Walfenherger, class of 1957.
The next board meeting is set for Feb. 25, 2027.
Board members attending were Jim Current, Jim Deppe, Janet Heim, Debby Moore, Joyce Nolan, Carol Schambach and Laura Straube. Denny Wright also attended.
