Van-Far couldn’t muster anything against Megan Graver and state-ranked Bowling Green on Thursday.
The Lady Indians’ season ended in the opening round of the Class 2 District 5 tournament at South Shelby in Shelbina after losing 10-0 in five innings to the third-best team in the state and one the state’s best pitchers in Columbia College recruit Megan Graver. She struck out 11 in five innings, finishing one-out away from a perfect game after Carmen Wilburn reached on an error in the fourth inning but still handed the Lady Indians their seventh shutout this year.
Graver’s 11 strikeouts helped her to set a new Bowling Green (18-6) career strikeout record of 653, which lasted since 2015.
Out of Reeve Woodall’s 10 runs allowed on 13 hits and six walks, six of them were earned.
Van-Far closes the season with a 3-17 overall record and a 0-9 Eastern Missouri Conference record.
