The Mexico Public Schools Board of Education (BOE) just went through it and will do it again. The BOE has called a special meeting for this Tuesday, Aug. 8, for the reason of accepting board President Todd Yager’s resignation and beginning the process of finding his replacement. The board held a special meeting just two weeks ago to interview candidates and ultimately appoint Michelle Stephens to the open seat. Yager joined the board in June 2020 and won re-election in April and received the most votes of all candidates in the election. The person the board chooses to appoint to Yager’s seat will serve until the election next April. The BOE agenda for the special meeting also includes an item for the board’s reorganization in which they will choose a new president, vice president, and treasurer.
